The IR team really began when David and BJ went down to Tijuana and poked and proded some Mexicans' minds to find out where the best place to set up a clinic would be. The founders are gone but the poking and prodding has been left behind as the IR team. For the first few years the IR team consisted of groups of spanish speakers that would go down on random trips to mexico to find new and interesting/interested people like the monastery, rehab center and orphanage. However, more recently it has turned into a public health resource that has really formalized the poking and prodding by calling them "public health surveys". Although networking abroad is still a crucial part of FISH the IR team has really found a way to incorporate the questions that FISH has about the community into the program effectively.
