How often does FISH meet?

Every odd week each quarter.

How often are the trips?

The Maclovio Rojas trips are roughly every other weekend during the school year, whereas the Brigada trips is around the 3rd week of winter quarter.

How long are the trips?

One to two days long on the weekends.

Do I need to be trained before joining FISH?

No, we will teach all FISH members the basics of medicine. We will provide training on measuring blood pressure and glucose levels, and there will also be refresher training before each trip. Certified EMT members will be training the associates.

How is FISH organized?

Each FISH associate is assigned to a team with a specific role.

What are the teams in FISH?

Administration, Development, Domestic Relations, International Relations, Marketing, and Training.

Do I need to be a fluent Spanish speaker?

Being fluent in Spanish will provide an advantage on FISH trips, but we will teach you basic Spanish phrases for you to communicate with the patients.

Do I have to be Christian to join FISH?

No, we welcome people of all religious affiliations. While the organization was founded with religious ties, our Constitution states that FISH will not discriminate based on religious affiliation. This includes all positions of leadership.

Do I have to be pre-med to join FISH?

No, in the past we have accepted students with geography, business, international development, and accounting majors
